Once upon a time it was part of the wedding trousseau : together with the dowry, the properties and the money of the bride's family, the woman also brought into her new married life a series of precious household objects, lots of linen and items resulting from the meticulous embroidery work that women did since the birth of the child, a commitment lasting decades that finally repaid with the gratitude of the couple and the doilies were never missing ♡
